Financial Risks of Investments in Coal
Analyzes the regulatory, commodity, and construction risks of investing in coal mining and coal-fired power plants. Examines industry analysts' consensus on viable alternatives to coal, including natural gas, solar, wind, and energy efficiency
Few-Shot Bayesian Imitation Learning with Logical Program Policies
Humans can learn many novel tasks from a very small number (1--5) of
demonstrations, in stark contrast to the data requirements of nearly tabula
rasa deep learning methods. We propose an expressive class of policies, a
strong but general prior, and a learning algorithm that, together, can learn
interesting policies from very few examples. We represent policies as logical
combinations of programs drawn from a domain-specific language (DSL), define a
prior over policies with a probabilistic grammar, and derive an approximate
Bayesian inference algorithm to learn policies from demonstrations. In
experiments, we study five strategy games played on a 2D grid with one shared
DSL. After a few demonstrations of each game, the inferred policies generalize
to new game instances that differ substantially from the demonstrations. Our
policy learning is 20--1,000x more data efficient than convolutional and fully
convolutional policy learning and many orders of magnitude more computationally
efficient than vanilla program induction. We argue that the proposed method is
an apt choice for tasks that have scarce training data and feature significant,
structured variation between task instances.Comment: AAAI 202
Design and implementation of sensor systems for control of a closed-loop life support system
The sensing and controlling needs for a Closed-Loop Life Support System (CLLSS) were investigated. The sensing needs were identified in five particular areas and the requirements were defined for workable sensors. The specific areas of interest were atmosphere and temperature, nutrient delivery, plant health, plant propagation and support, and solids processing. The investigation of atmosphere and temperature control focused on the temperature distribution within the growth chamber as well as the possibility for sensing other parameters such as gas concentration, pressure, and humidity. The sensing needs were studied for monitoring the solution level in a porous membrane material along with the requirements for measuring the mass flow rate in the delivery system. The causes and symptoms of plant disease were examined and the various techniques for sensing these health indicators were explored. The study of sensing needs for plant propagation and support focused on monitoring seed viability and measuring seed moisture content as well as defining the requirements for drying and storing the seeds. The areas of harvesting, food processing, and resource recycling, were covered with a main focus on the sensing possibilities for regulating the recycling process
Chromatoforoma's bij reptielen
Tumors of the pigment cells or chromatophores in reptiles are classified as melanophoromas, iridophoromas, xanthophoromas, erythrophoromas or mixed type chromatophoromas based on the predominant type of pigment, and constitute a relatively common neoplastic disorder in captive reptiles. Especially melanophoromas and iridophoromas are frequently observed. The diagnosis of chromatophoromas is usually made through histological examination. The use of immunohistochemistry or electron microscopy may be required to discriminate the different types of chromatophoromas. Whenever possible, complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice. Due to the distinct malignancy and tendency to metastasize, the prognosis of cutaneous chromatophoromas in reptiles is generally guarded. Consequently, an early and correct diagnosis of these neoplastic disorders in reptiles is vital. This article provides an overview of the current knowledge regarding the occurrence, the performance, the pathogenesis and the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of chromatophoromas in reptiles with emphasis on melano- and iridophoromas
